Jerry Delaney called me in April 2003, he said one of his friends told him to call me. He asked what he can do for me? I said we are a group of waiters at the Olive Garden (OG) and we want to tour your vineyards and taste your wine. He and his team welcomed us over the next two years as we made our Vino Ventures to include visits to his winery and vineyard. Our waiters, along with other waiters from around the metroplex, our management and our guests learned about the fruit of the vine and art of wine making from Jerry and his team. Pictured on left, is Jeff, one of our OG wine guys, following directions from Jerry as we prepare to stomp the grapes. The annual Grape Stomp at Delaney Vineyards usually in mid August provides a chance for everyone to have purple feet, enjoy the wine and have so much fun.
As you tour Delaney Vineyards, especially in the spring and harvest times, you get a sense of the Old World with its Bordeau-style chateau. For a moment you feel transported to another place and time as you enjoy the handpainted murals, forged iron and aged wood.
The "Grand Barrel Room," covers 5,200-square foot and can be used for any occasion. The interior brick walls of the room are lined with oak barrels, while the 40-foot vaulted ceiling adds to the Old World atmosphere of this unique setting. It includes an Italian granite bar, where you can enjoy their wines and the surroundings.
The back of the building is home to a fully operational Tank Room. This 1,000-square foot area contains a number of stainless steel fermentation tanks, the Bottling Room and plenty of space to host a cocktail party.
Pictured below and adjoining the Grand Barrel Room is a 1,500-square foot covered patio known as the "Crush Pad," and overlooks 10-acres of lush grapevines. The Crush Pad is used during their annual Grape Stomp where they will put your happy feet to work and rinse you off too.
Jerry's team is friendly and knowledgeable about wine. Terry Johnson is such a team member and she helped our groups learn about the vineyards and wine making.
